Damn that’s a high interest rate these days! Cars are so expensive :’-(

Cost of owning a car that looks like a mutated Fujikawa disaster frog: your soul.

I have very little credit history, that was the best rate I could find.

I kinda wish I had done this just after I bought my BRZ. But then again, I would probably cry myself to sleep.

To be fair, you should probably deduct the $1600 loss on your trade-in. After all, that’s not the Juke’s fault. :)

Well, the lesson I hope you learn is that to finance something, you have to be able to put money down. Not only did you put nothing down, you refinanced some of what you already owed! Beyond that, the 5k for financing figure really isn’t completely fair because you included taxes, the “trade in” deficit, and all the other fees which you would have had to pay anyway.

Your financing cost was only 2,196.10 which would have been just a little less (like 10%? 200 bucks?) had you not rolled in the owed money on your old car. And of course is would have been even less had you, instead of adding 1500, put something like 2000 down.

I don’t know your finances or situation so I’m not saying you did wrong btw. But having 3500 then would have saved you something like 500 in the long run. It’s a good thing you’re keeping track of everything, that’s the best learning tool that almost no one does.

I had no money to put down, it was not the most smart thing I’ve done.

Look around to refinance that asap, you may find a cheaper rate in a couple months. I did that with one of the vehicles I purchased many years ago. Might be an option for you.

I plan on starting looking next year, I want to build my credit a bit more before I do so.

“Lien registration fee: $108.85"

Also more expensive because of bullshit fees like this.

How many KM have you driven so far? Is it around 12,000km (which I’m basing on the number of fillups... and guessing 500km between fillups)? If so, that means your car has cost you $1.74/km... not including the cost of insurance.   But the nice thing about that calculation is the longer you own the car, the lower the cost per km gets.

Also $80-$90 for an oil change sounds very expensive.

I change my own oil for half of that cost... and I’m using full synthetic.

Also in the future, instead of getting separate winter tires, get one set of good 4 season tires... specifically the Nokian WRG3. I’ve had those year-round on my last car in the Toronto area and they’re good... better in winter than many cheap winter tires. Or a cheaper/older version of the same tire is the Nordman WR... which I have on my current car.

Hopefully this car lasts you at least 60 months so that once it’s paid off, you can enjoy some car ownership time without car payments.

I love it. Good on fuel, handles really good for its high CG, engine is fantastic, and love how it looks.

That’s cool. Then it’s worth what you’re paying. I almost got one a year ago with a stick and I was impressed with it. It’s a fun car and it’ll go when you step on it. I love the funky looks, too. Especially the kooky interior.

Mines also a 6spd, I find the gearing too short for me. I’ve put a FiST to bed once in my Juke.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about the gearing. That’s hilarious. What a sleeper. I still feel a tiny pang of regret whenever I see a Juke. I ended up with a Volvo C30 which I adore, so it’s all good.
